What data do we collect?
Folderling collects the following data:
- Personal identification information (Name, email address, phone number, etc.)
- The files you upload
- Your payment data, indirectly through Stripe
- Some data about your usage, so we can optimize the user experience of our product, and discover and fix bugs.
How do we collect your data?
You directly provide Folderling with most of the data we collect. We collect data and process data when you:
- Register online for any of our products or services.
- Upload files into your account.
- Voluntarily complete a customer survey or provide feedback on any of our message boards or via email.
- Use or view our website via your browser’s cookies.
Folderling may also receive your data indirectly from the following sources:
- While we rely on Stripe to handle your credit card data, other payment and billing related data will he shared between Stripe and us. This includes your billing address and the status of your payments.
How will we use your data?
Folderling collects your data so that we can:
- Process your payments and manage your account.
- Provide the service you signed up for, e.g. store and index your files, so you can easily search them.
- Email you with product updates. (If you sign up for the respective newsletter.)
When Folderling processes your order, it may send your data to, and also use the resulting information from, credit reference agencies to prevent fraudulent purchases.
How do we store your data?
Folderling securely stores your data at different cloud providers:
- Our database is hosted by Neon on servers in Frankfurt, Germany.
- We store the files you upload on Amazon Web Services servers in Frankfurt, Germany.
- Our web servers, (which all data passes through), are hosted on fly.io, with servers in Frankfurt, Germany.
Folderling uses the following external partners to provide parts of our service, and needs to share some of your data with them:
- For our newsletter, we're using Email Octopus. Email Octopus is based in the UK, and fully GDPR compliant. Their servers are held with Amazon's data center in Ireland (EU), and their Privacy Policy can be found here.
- Folderling uses SendGrid for secure and reliable delivery of transactional emails.
- Folderling employs Cloudflare for enhanced performance and security. Cloudflare may process some of your data, such as IP addresses, to provide these services. Cloudflare adheres to GDPR and ensures the protection of your data.
- Folderling utilizes OpenAI's services to enhance the experience with AI functionality. For this, Folderling needs to send your data, specifically the content of the documents you upload, to OpenAI's servers, which are not necessarily located in the European Union. It is important to understand that OpenAI does not use any of this data to train their models, and that OpenAI is fully GDPR compliant. Details about privacy at OpenAI can be found here.
Folderling will keep your files and your account data until your Folderling account is cancelled. Within 30 days after your account was cancelled, we will delete your data from our database and your files from the Amazon Web Services servers. We keep your billing data for as long as we are required by law.
Marketing
Folderling would like to send you information about products and services of ours that we think you might like.
If you have agreed to receive marketing, you may always opt out at a later date.
You have the right at any time to stop Folderling from contacting you for marketing purposes.
If you no longer wish to be contacted for marketing purposes, please click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of one of the respective emails, or contact us.
What are your data protection rights?
Folderling would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:
